Shout out to Cammie

The John Legend CD's the Cammie made for me finally surfaced and are proudly playing on my computer. He is quite a performer.. plays the piano with some solid RnB backup. It moves right along.

The emusic account with its 90 downloads saw some Liza Minelli action this week. I had downloaded some Frank Sinatra duets including the hard to find theme from New York. I was wondering why it was so difficult to find in digital form. It seems that the original was recorded my Liza. The songwriters were not all that happy with Frank's "A number one" addition to the lyrics. I am reasoning that is why New York New York, one of Sinatra's theme songs was not readily available in digital form.

Also in the download list from e-music was an album from a European clarinet instrumentalist, Acker Bilk. I was looking for a straight forward version of "Stranger on the Shore," a 60's standard instrumental. What is interesting is that he actually composed the song "Stranger on the Shore" for a British Tv Show. He made it to the top charts in the US with this song in 1962.

A more jazz version of "Stranger on the Shore" was also downloaded from emusic by the jazz group Ambrose Seelos Orchestre Klarinette. Its clearly a German jazz band playing American pop favorites, Stranger on the Shore, Unchained Melody, Blue Bayou, and If you leave me now.

Happy music listening.. and thanks again to Cammie for sharing and delivering!

Pat
