LIfe in the Laundermat

It sounds good on paper.

Take all of your laundry use their machines and get it done all at once.

When the raider's game start to go sour.. which was early in the second quarter, they were playing the San Diego Chargers, I hauled the equivlent of 9 loads to the laundermat. I used three machines which ran 3 loads each and 9 dollars in quarters. They were done in 28 minutes. Then I waited for 40 minutes for a dryer to be free. One load's product was not going to be dried by the other two needed separate dryers because they were so large. There was a backup as people would pull from dryers a few clothes at a time and fold them on the tables provided. 6 dryers were broken. People were complaining that some were not very effective. The ones I finally got were plenty hot.

The kid action is interesting. There is not much for a kid to do there. They chase around a little. One kid at a gameboy. I brought my video IPod and caught up the the Alan Alda Scientific American series that I purchased on ITunes. It was about the digging around the colonies looking for evidence of how the slaves lived. What they ate and what kind of ties that maintained with their African heritage.

The cold load is hung and drying in the walk in closet.

Sue has been hankering for some winter clothes. I drove out to the storage and picked up the bins and we made some switches of summer clothes for winter ones. Now I just have to drive the summer ones out and get them in the storage.

I will be glad when our construction is over and the laundry can be done at our house.

I am remembering laudromats when I was a kiddo...hitting the laudromat while on the road...The trick to going to the laudromat is to bring a packet of stationary and write letters to everyone you've been meaning to write. Pre-stamped postcards are perfect for this. I like to go to laundromats when I am in other countries, because people are so bored, they will talk with you. I once had a great conversation with a person in a laundromat in Saskatchewan! They were amazed that an actual Californian would be doing their laundry in Saskatoon!
