Last night I came home thinking about the cool chicken dish that Kelly made from the paper a couple of years ago. It was from the too hot tamales, a food network show. The recipe is called Cinnamon Chicken. She said it was soooo go but really messy.. and required some serious clean up. I was up for it. I searched through the cookbooks (I have 3) that they wrote and I found it. It required an overnight marinade in a dry sherry. I do not have the sherry.. so it will be saved for another day.
What I had in the refrig. was a flat of mild Italian sausage and a head of cabbage. I also had a hand full of hamburger from last night's naked hamburgers. I chopped up an apple, set the Cuisinart on rough cut and chopped up half the cabbage. The sausage was cut into small pieces and fried with the hamburger in a very large fry pan. The seasoning is worchester sauce and a little pepper.
After the meat was sauteed to past pink, the entire half of cabbage went in on top. The moisture from the meat steams the cabbage and the whole thing becomes a one pan dinner.
Sue really liked it because there was a little hamburger in it and it was not just sausage. She is not a real big sausage fan.
Some apple sauce accompanied the dish.. yum.
Someday soon I will do the cinnamon chicken...
